Aluminum CNC Machining: Custom Aluminum Parts Manufacturing Guide

What is Aluminum CNC Machining?

Aluminum (aluminium) is one of the most popular CNC materials because it is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, strong for its weight and fast to machine. We produce custom aluminum parts in grades 6061, 6063, 7075, 5052 and 6082 for OEM customers worldwide.

Choosing the right grade

6061 is the general-purpose structural alloy with good strength and anodising response. 7075 is much stronger for high-load aerospace and robotics parts. 6063 suits extruded shapes and cosmetic finishes, while 5052 offers excellent forming and corrosion resistance.

Anodising and appearance

Aluminum takes anodising exceptionally well — clear, black, red, blue and custom colours, plus hard anodising for wear. Bead blasting, brushing and polishing deliver consistent cosmetic surfaces.

High-speed machining

Aluminum machines at high speeds and feeds, which keeps cycle time and cost competitive while maintaining excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Frequently asked questions

Which aluminum grade should I choose?

Use 6061 for general structural parts, 7075 for high strength, 6063 for cosmetic/extruded forms, and 5052 where forming and corrosion resistance matter. We can advise during DFM.

Does anodising change dimensions?

Anodising adds a thin film; hard anodising adds more. We account for the expected growth on critical dimensions and can mask specific features.

How tight are aluminum part tolerances?

We routinely hold ±0.01 mm on critical features, with ISO 2768-mK as the default and CMM reports available.

Can you provide certified material?

Yes — mill certificates and traceable stock for 6061, 7075 and other grades are available on request.
